Information
 Welcome
to Puri Lumbung Cottages in Northern Bali.
The ‘lumbung’ or rice granary is part of Bali’s
unique cultural heritage. Traditionally used to store
rice under the protection of the goddess Dewi Sri, lumbungs
are now seldom used because farming techniques have
changed.
We discovered several disused lumbungs averaging 80
years old, and with minor adjustments adapted them into
simple but charming accommodation. Of course we held
a special ritual to transfer Dewi Sri back to the rice
fields, but her gentle energy remains.
 Our
compound is designed in the traditional Balinese manner
modeled on the sacred human form with shrines at the
head, guest accommodation at the heart and other facilities
at the foot. Guests enjoy spectacular sunsets and stunning
panoramas of the rice fields and coast. Evenings are
cool and refreshing.
The people of Munduk village are involved as much as
possible in caring for our guests. We not only provide
employment, but engage them in activities that maintain
the tropical rainforest and preserve water. We also
encourage the young villagers to keep their cultural
heritage alive with traditional dance, music and crafts.

rooms at Puri Lumbung Cottages are crafted from hardwood
in traditional North Balinese designs. Our rooms are
designed to be secure and earthquake resistant.

With a spacious bathroom, upstairs bedroom and walk-out
balcony.
2 Family Cottages
Providing space for a family or group of four or more
with a spacious living area, bedroom, two bathrooms,
balcony and a fire place.

With double the space of the Family Cottage, two bathrooms,
an open fireplace and connecting balcony.
1 Deluxe Alam Dewata
Our Villa offers spectacular views over verdant rice
fields, a dramatic valley and the distant sea. It features
one bedroom upstairs, one down stairs, an open-air bathroom,
fireplace and kitchenette.

Kopi Bali Restaurant
Our two-storey restaurant serves traditional Balinese,
Indonesian and vegetarian cuisine as well as Western
favorites. Diners enjoy a magnificent view of rice terraces,
the valley and Mount Batukaru (2276 m), the second highest
mountain in Bali.

Victoria Hall
The hall was contributed by Victoria University in Melbourne,
Australia. Victoria Hall is designed for social activities
and performances of traditional music and dance in keeping
with our program to preserve local art and culture.
The children of the village have been learning traditional
Balinese dance here three times a week.
Victoria Hall is also a perfect venue for other activities
such as yoga, meditation, meetings, spiritual workshops
and demonstrations of local arts and crafts such as
weaving, making offerings and Balinese cooking classes.
